Herp of the day: Square-headed cat snake

The Square-headed Cat Snake or Mushroom Snake (Boiga kraepelini) is a mildly venomous species found in China, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Laos. These snakes spend most of their time in trees, feeding on birds, lizards, and eggs. 

They can reach 160 cms in total length and can be quite aggressive, forming a defensive coil and striking in a viper-like fashion when threatened, they will not hesitate to strike at perceived predators.
