Herp of the day: Blunt-headed Slug-eating Snake

The Blunt-headed Slug-eating Snake (Aplopeltura boa) is a nonvenomous species native to southeast Asia, it can be found in southern Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and the Philippines.

As its name would suggest, this species is fond of slugs and other molluscs, on which is feeds. It is the only member of the genus Aplopeltura.

This snake inhabits lowland and montane moist forests up to 1,300 m elevation, it is nocturnal and arboreal, and mostly found in low vegetation.
